What will you be financing?

DISPOWER E.S.P.  is a Colombian company that brings electricity to remote rural communities that are not connected to the national grid.

The funds raised in this campaign will help expand and strengthen DISPOWER’s operations in rural areas by connecting at least 2.500 new households to reliable and clean energy, adding to the more than 13.000 households connected by the end of April 2025.

The families benefiting from this project live in regions without access to the national power grid, and electricity is essential to improving their quality of life.

The funds will be directed to three key areas:

  • Strengthening technical service - Improve the customer service team to provide better support, and optimise customer strategies. Increase operational capacity by hiring more technical staff, and offering rapid problem resolution in rural areas.
  • Community training - Expand educational programmes on efficient energy use and basic maintenance of electrical equipment, empowering users to optimise resources and guarantee electricity services. Training plans will also be implemented to promote community ownership of the sustainability model.
  • Growth of operational infrastructure - Technological improvements will be implemented in operational processes to increase efficiency and prepare to serve a greater number of users assigned by the State, ensuring the continuity and quality of service in a context of sustained expansion.

This investment will help DISPOWER reach more families, improve service efficiency, and reduce operating costs over time. It also has a strong social impact: giving vulnerable communities access to energy that supports education, health, and economic opportunities.  The goal is for this model to reach even more areas,  and contribute to a fair and sustainable energy transition across Colombia.

This is Dispower’s second campaign, after sucessfully funding 500.000€ in their first campaign that helped bring electricity to more than 3.000 households.

What is the impact?

Improve energy access in Colombia's Non-Interconnected Zones (ZNI): Dispower is revolutionizing renewable energy access in 14 of Colombia’s Non-Interconnected Zones (ZNI)—remote, rural regions not connected to the national power grid. Through a collaborative model supported by Colombian government subsidies, Dispower will provide continuous electricity access in 2025 to families, schools, and other critical infrastructure. This initiative is helping to close the country’s energy gap and promote equal opportunities in historically underserved communities.

Improve quality of life through electricity reliability: Dispower's operating model was designed to guarantee a safe, reliable and sustainable supply of electricity in isolated areas. Many families in the ZNIs lacked electricity or relied on costly and inefficient methods such as diesel generators, candles or lanterns. Dispower's decentralized photovoltaic plants supply power to specific households or schools, adapting to the particular needs of each family or school community. This solution ensures reliable electricity day and night, allowing the use of household and school appliances and adequate lighting that significantly improves the quality of life and functioning of the educational facilities.

Impact on communities and people benefited: Dispower serves 14 rural and remote communities, reaching 133 schools and 11.808 households with an average of four members per family, impacting more than 48.148 people, including school children. Some of these communities are made up mainly of indigenous groups. The indigenous communities served include groups such as the Sikuani, Wayuu, Embera Katío, Murui, Kichwa, Coreguaje, Siona, Huitoto, Cubeo, Tukano, among others.
Dispower also provides training for the users around efficient and responsible use of electricity and maintenance of equipment.

This loan supports Dispower's operations, enabling services for approximately 2.525 households and benefiting 10.100 people in the ZNIs by providing improved access to energy and enhancing their quality of life through greater electricity reliability.

Promotion of clean energy and cost reduction: The use of electricity generated by solar plants is contributing significantly to the transition to clean energy, improving air quality and reducing CO2 emissions in the ZNI. By replacing diesel with solar energy subsidized by the Colombian government, households enjoy more affordable costs. With an installed capacity of 8.830 KW of clean energy, Dispower's installations have already avoided the emission of more than 3.200 tons of CO2 in the first quarter of 2025.
